How political, corporate, and special interests manipulate and distort media messages

corporate-news-propagandaIn this eye-opening talk published on February 6, 2015, veteran investigative journalist Sharyl Attkisson exposes how “astroturf” – or fake grassroots movements funded by political, corporate, or other special interests – very effectively manipulate and distort media messages.

For instance, Sharyl reveals how the pharmaceutical industry manipulates the message to “massage” the public into accepting new drugs. She also explains why such sources as Wikipedia and Snopes should be approached with a 10 foot pole.

This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format, but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at ted.com/tedx.

I originally came across this video on Starship Earth: The Big Picture – many thanks for posting this! Please listen and share, this is a important as Gearóid Ó Colmáin‘s interview I just posted.
