Bureau of Land Management to slaughter 44,000 wild horses

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has recently adopted a recommendation to euthanize some 44,000 wild horses and donkeys it has been holding in short and long-term facilities throughout the United States.

As reported by Jay Syrmopoulos on The Free Though Project, these animals have been removed from their natural habitats to allow for privately owned cattle to graze on the land for profit.

The BLM, which “cares” for 50,000 horses in “off-range” corrals and pastures, states that the recommendation stems from an “independent panel”, the National Wild Horse and Burro Advisory Board. According to News of the Horse, the Advisory Board made their recommendation nearly unanimously. Ginger Kathrens, founder of The Cloud Foundation, was the sole dissenting vote.

Mentioning that the BLM had scrapped their plans to experiment on mare spaying due to public outcry and multiple lawsuits being filed, News of the Horse also states that “With public outcry at every turn, and the wants of the cattle industry for less competition for forage, the BLM finds itself struggling to make decisions and stick with them.”

The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) has started a petition* and released a statement denouncing the BLM’s moronic decision. “One of the biggest threats to America’s Wild Horses is our own government”, the Humane Society states, adding that “The decision of the BLM advisory board to recommend the destruction of the 45,000 wild horses currently in holding facilities is a complete abdication of responsibility for their care. The agency would not be in this situation but for their long-term mismanagement. Alternatives to this proposal have been ignored for over 20 years. The HSUS stands ready to implement these alternatives at any time.”

* The HSUS petition is intended for U.S. residents, but I was able to sign it using a Canadian address. International “advocates” should visit Humane Society International for ways to support this petition.

Other petitions are circulating to protest the BLM’s cruel and unusual decision, notably on Change.org. One of these – Defund to Stop the Wild Horse and Burro Roundups and Slaughter – has garnered over 83,000 signatures as I write this, and is to be delivered to the Destroyer in chief himself, Barack Hussein Obama II, the U.S. House of Representatives, and the U.S. Senate.

History is apparently repeating itself as it seems this is not the first time some shitheads in D.C. have decided to slaughter horses they could no longer afford to keep.

Gandhi-quote-humanity-animalsThe Pentagon “misplaces” trillions of dollars, they send hundreds of millions in cash to a supposed enemy State, and they can’t find 50 millions to care for animals they have displaced for profit from their natural habitats? What’s wrong people? But then again, what can you expect in a nation so numbed-downed by toxic vaccines, chemical spraying, propaganda and disinformation that they can’t figure out if they’re male or female by simply looking down in their underwear?

May God have mercy on you the people…

Gandhi didn’t say “the way its animals are killed” but “treated”.
He was a vegetarian and had no need to eat meat to survive..
I suppose he ment the way we consider the relation with animals and their place in the order of the cosmos.
I think that the way we consider animals defines our own way of respecting us and vice-versa.
I have more respect for a guy who eats some meat occasionally and who is capable of killing the animal with his own hands than for the one who eats some cashere meat every day.
Societies built on capitalism do not respect Life : they send their children to the slaughterhouse for government profit (war), overconsume the flesh of animals, treat pets like domestic babies and eradicate any fauna that gets in the way of their economic projects.
Unfortunately, trade and finance have taken priority over value of life

I agree with the Gandhi quote. Hence, those nations that use Halal and Kosher butchery.
